So iOS 5 has been announced by Steve and below are some features which you will be able to get your hands on in the fall.

The 10 main features of iOS 5 are:

  • Newsstand, Subscriptions for magazines, many publications. When downloaded it puts them in your Newsstand which is a folder app looking like iBooks. New issues are automatically downloaded in the background.
  • Twitter, Integrated in Camera, once a picture is taken you have the option to tweet it along with a message, Maps- show your followers where the best coffee shop is.
  • Safari, Reader, like on Safari for computers this option is now available on iOS, You can put an article in your Reading List where you can read it later, Tabbed Browsing! Great, just as you would expect and of course, you can tweet articles.
  • Reminders, store lists, set reminders, sync with iCal.
  • Camera, Lockscreen shortcut, volume+ button can be used as shutter button, pinch to zoom, Edit images- You can crop, rotate, reduce red-eye, and you can do a one click enhance — if you’re feeling lucky.
  • Mail, use of Bold, Italic, Underline, Dictionary, Keyboard- use two thumbs and the keyboard splits.
  • PC Free, don’t need a computer to download new firmware, setup up your iOS device originally, Sync your device wirelessly.
  • Game Center, “In just 9 months we have 50 million Game Center users. To put that into perspective Xbox Live has been around for about eight years and they have around 30 million users.”, scores of your friends’ friends, friend recommendations, game recommendations, Achievement points, download games direct from Game Center app.
  • iMessage, Send texts, photos, etc for iPhone and now a new messages service for all iOS users, writing on your iPhone and want to carry it on on your iPad, you can. Great service, works over Wifi or 3G.
Also a new ‘flick’ multitask feature using four fingers to flick through your open apps. iOS 5 out in the fall, in time for the iPhone 5?
