Mac App Store

The Mac App Store is awesome, it just is. As you see in most app stores these days, whether its Mac, iPhone or Android, Angry Birds is the Top Paid app. At only £2.99, which is the price of Angry Birds HD for iPad, it is bargain! The Mac App Store is pretty much a replica of the much loved iOS one but why would they need to change anything? It offers some normal applications for Mac at a discount price and there are familiar things like ‘Top Paid’, ‘Top Free’, ‘Top Grossing’, ‘Staff Favorites’, etc. It provides some iOS apps like Angry Birds and Flight Control. Twitter have released an app which looks handy and stops you faffing about with always logging in.

At the top there are 5 options for you:

  • Featured, pretty much the home page.
  • Top Charts, see the Top Paid, Top Free, Top Grossing and Top Charts Categories.
  • Categories, There are 21 Categories as follows, Business, Developer Tools, Education,, Finance, Games, Graphics and Design, Health and Fitness, Lifestyle, Medical, Music, News, Photography, Productivity, Reference, Social Networking, Sports, Travel, Utilities, Video and Weather.
  • Purchases, Just shows your purchases and has a choice to update.
  • Updates, Tells you if there are any updates available for your apps and gives you the links, like iOS.

Once you commit to buying an app it puts it in your dock and you see the progress bar, just like iOS.

In the future more well known apps for iPhone will venture across to the Mac App Store. Also with the Mac App Store, Macs won’t be put down on their lack of software.
